Making Work work for Migrant Women in Australia

Migrant Women in Australia are underserved and under-utilised. They face a combination of barriers that makes it harder for them to enter the workforce (as compared to migrant men and locals). We are here to fix that.

The table is covered with black tablecloth and has yellow paper notes and blue pens. In the background, there are chairs and a person in a green jacket facing away.

Owned and Operated by Migrant Women

EmployHer Choice is owned and operated by migrant women. Grounded in lived experience and community connection, we design solutions that directly address the real-world challenges faced by migrant women in the workforce.

  • Nearly 1 in 5 migrants (18%) in the tech workforce believe their skills are underutilised in their current workplace.

  • Better utilising 48,000 migrants into the tech workforce by 2030 could generate $186 million in value.

  • The name EmployHer Choice reflects our dual purpose: to be the first choice for employers seeking talent and the preferred platform for migrant women pursuing meaningful work.

  • Our focus, initially, is on migrant women already based in Australia with full working rights. We hope to be able to expand our impact in the future.

  • We aim to provide as much value as possible to the community. You will find us regularly hosting events (online and in person) where we share information and develop networks. Apart from that, we aim to provide support for:

    1. Women looking for traditional employment by matching them with employers who will value their skills and understand their needs.

    2. We eventually hope to start our own consulting firm where we can directly hire migrant women and provide services to other organisations.

    3. Women looking to start their own home-based businesses by providing guidance and making connections to make the process easier for them.
